We’ve all seen those perfectly bald heads that have absolutely no shadow to them.
Meaning of “Shadow” – the area in which you can visibly see the outline of where the hair used to be.
For those who are intentionally bald, having a shadowless clean shave is the ultimate goal. However, achieving that goal is not a natural process.
There are a few factors that can contribute to a shadowless clean shave look:
- Male Pattern Baldness taking over
- Electrolysis and Hair Removal Treatments
- Makeup
Shadow exists because the hair root still exists after shaving. As long as the hair root exists, there will always be a shadow. See illustration of hair root.
Electrolysis and hair removal treatments kill the root, resulting in less shadow. However, if that is what your ultimate goal is, there are less expensive and less painful ways to go about it such as makeup or foundation that closely matches your skin tone.

Your hairstyle often announces you…for some it often symbolizes who they are.
For men, losing their hair from a genetic cause can be the most emasculating occurrence they will suffer through. Regardless of how the baldness occurs, slowly starting with a receding hair line or rapidly falling out in chunks, dealing with male pattern baldness is not easy for everyone. I was surprised at how many men suffer from depression or have grave concerns over male pattern baldness.
Some men choose to turn to artificial means of preserving what little hair they have left through costly hair pieces, while others are willing to suffer through painful and expensive hair plugs that can cause permanent scarring.
Suffering from hair loss can often take you through the same stages of divorce – Anger, Denial, Bargaining, Depression and finally Acceptance. In the end, your still left with a bald head…a rather beautiful bald head.
Male pattern baldness is not the end of the world, going through and taking it all off with a razor often lifts the spirit and gives you a new attitude along with a new look.
Michael Jordan took the bald head to new heights with the black guys, while Bruce Willis played it well for the white guys and Vin Diesel came in and made it official for the tough guys.
So for all those who are struggling with the effects of male pattern baldness, don’t get to down. Pick up a razor and shave all those fears and negative thoughts away. After a few weeks, your confidence in your new found look will be one of gratitude and style.
Game over, keep it low and clean.

Shaving with electric clippers [SHAVING PRODUCTS]

Typically a bald head means cleanly shaven down to the scalp.
However, having stubble can be considered bald too…depending on whom you ask. You will find more women with stubble than men.
Electric clippers typically are more convenient to use, do not cause nicks and cause less irritation to sensitive skin than a blade. For those looking for a close clean shave, electric clippers don’t fill their needs.
Using electric clippers and shaving against the grain will result in a close shave, but not a clean shave.
Being that electric clippers do not give a clean shave and leave noticeable stubble on the top of the head, they also provide the option of styling the hair with fading, parts and lines.
A good set of clippers can typically start at $80(USD) or more, but are well worth the price.
